Hardly a day goes by without me and my colleagues messaging each other about new fashion things we’ve found. Bags, jeans, coats, swimwear—there’s no telling what will be in my cart at the end of the day thanks to this stylish bunch. Editors Aniyah Morinia and Anna LaPlaca are two fashion girls you can always find me dishing the latest and greatest in the fashion world and exchanging links with. (Maybe the similarities in our names draw us to each other’s style.) And the brand we’ve been excited about lately is Rothy’s.

Last year, we geeked out over the brand’s ballet flat, but this year, it’s all about the espadrille. The shoe is a no-brainer for summer. It’s made sustainably with hemp and Rothy’s signature thread spun from plastic bottles, it’s machine washable (I’ll never get over this fun fact), and it features an ultra-cushy footbed for extra comfort. We got our hands on the must-have sandal and took it for a spin. See how we’re styling it below.

The way it pops in my outfits makes me beyond happy. So you can say I was over the moon when I discovered these red-hot espadrilles from Rothy’s. They’re comfy (like a bed for your feet) and cute. I could style these sandals in so many ways, but I was instantly drawn to a pair of overalls in my closet that had such a fun vibe. “This is not my first pair of Rothy’s, and it certainly won’t be my last. Espadrilles are the fun summer shoe, and these live up to their social media hype. The comfort is unmatched (coming from a city dweller always getting my steps in). It’s also rare to find machine-washable shoes. I’m prone to tossing my shoes out once they’ve gotten too much wear and tear, but that won’t be the case with this pair. The adjustable straps and woven platform take center stage, so I opted for casual jeans and a vest to let these sparkly gold shoes shine. The relaxed barrel fit of my jeans allows for the lace-up straps to peek out under the hem. I finished my look with a brown bag to keep the neutral theme going. “Rothy’s breathable fabric is one of a kind. (I’ve done the legwork with different sandal styles from multiple brands.) Comfort is one of my top priorities in a summer sandal, so I was immediately drawn to the soft, pliable material that’s pure blister-free magic. A classic pair of lace-up espadrilles will always remind me of the quintessential Mediterranean style, and that’s the energy this outfit gives off. Whether or not my tickets are booked, I’m dressing for a vacation in the South of France. This cotton maxi skirt says, ‘I’m running to the market for a baguette and brie—need anything?’ I couldn’t help but continue the French theme with a striped sweater draped over my shoulders.
